I have transfered my pictures file to my external hard drive and want to be able to view My library from there. When I choose my file from my hard drive it doesn't open up the folders from the pictures file to view them. I need help. I think it has something to do with Iphoto 2

not sure I know exactly what you mean, but have you tried launching the app with the option key held? you will be prompted to choose the library location. OS X will remember after that.
