When I try to download a .rar my OS X Macbook Pro says that the download "may contain an application" and "The safety of the file cannot be determined".

Can anyone advise please about downloading a rar, un-raring, and using software to join videos that have been split into a number of rar files?

Thanks dalvin, MacPar Delux says that it will "Verify the completeness of downloaded data", does that mean that it will check for a computer nasty. Apart from the physical part of un-raring etc, I am concerned about downloading a virus etc.

no, it will not be able to detect a virus..

what it means is it ensures all the data has been downloaded off the server and no bits were missing.. (or something like that)..

if you're worried about viruses (virii?), then stay away from dodgy websites ;)
also, most appear in the executable form (.exe) for windows, so have no chance on os x.. still.. be careful anyway :)
