At the weekend I finally got round to installing Tiger on our old G3 900Mhz iBook. Upgraded rather than archive and install, and the thing not only works perfectly, but also runs noticibly faster than it did under Panther...

This is how new Apple OSs used to be. This contrasts quite markedly with my more recent experience of upgrading a new iMac to Leopard...

Anyone else think that things have started to slide slightly?
 
Leopard is as fast as or faster than Tiger on my MBP, so I'd say things are pretty much the same. :)
 
No. I've done Leopard Erase and Installs on a variety of Macs from the latest to G4 iBooks and Power Macs. Every one has seem a performance increase from Tiger.
