So, I recently renamed and reset our apartment's network (unproctected currnenty). Problem is, everytime I lock my iPhone or let it rest for a while, i have to go back into Settings and click on the network name each time. I thought this was temporary, but its been over a day now. It's not a problem with all networks as when I go to my gf's place, it remembers her neighbors unprotected network right away. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks!

worked for me

I had a very similar issue and after calling Apple support they had me reset my network settings and voila' it worked perfectly....
Settings>General>Reset(scroll its at bottom>Reset Network Settings
Hope it works for you too.

I have the same issue, but it seemed to be connected to the settings on my iPhone. If I have a passcode set on my phone, I have to manually reconnect to WiFi signals. If I don't have a passcode set, then my phone automatically rejoins. Doesn't make much sense to me. Anyone else experience this?
