adding fonts

i would appreciate some assistance with adding fonts. I use a couple apps and would like to use some of the various fonts I've acquired. I'm using OS 10.4.11, and have no idea how to add these fonts to my system.

please help.

I've been able to temporarily add them to my font book, but i would like them available for applications at my pleasure.

If you are using Font Book, then you should have no problem. This is your computer that you are trying to add fonts to, isn't it?
 
If fonts are showing up in Font Book then they have been copied to your Library and will be usable in just about any application.

To install TTF (true type fonts) just double click on them and then Font Book will handle the rest.
