These dots are driving me crazy! What are they and how do I get rid of them? They are not dead pixles because they flash and move when you scroll a page. I took this screen shot and could see the dots on my iPhone. I have the newest iMac 20" 2.4 ghz 2 gb of ram. Well i can't upload the screen shot for some reason now! But does any one know how to fix this issue?

Red, green, blue dots showing up on the screen could be overheating GPU or video RAM.

I cant upload this screenshot from grab! It's a tiff, is that supported? Here are my temps after being on for 15 min
cpu 99
gpu 122
gpu diode 128
gpu heatsink 122
ambient 68
mem controller 103
airport card 108
hd bay 115
(degrees F)

I'm offended! That's not appropriate for a public forum. I'm asking for help and this is what I get?

Wow, lighten up.

That said those temperatures look fine. Post a photo when you get it up. It could be stuck pixels on their particular color.

Sounds like a overheating/failing gpu to me... From the sounds of it, it is "artifacting" you are describing.

you said you dont see the dots after taking a screenshot?
someone correct me if i am wrong but doesnt the screenshot feature just take a shot of what is leaving the GPU
so wouldnt the problem have to be in the screen?

No I can see the dots in the screenshot. Even can see it on my iPhone!

Correct. If this is a screen problem (stuck/dead pixels) a screenshot is going to do no good.

If he were to take a picture of the screen with a decent camera, that might be better. He of course would have to upload the picture to the forum or some image hosting place, so we could see what he is seeing.

OK it should work this time! It's weird they move all around my screen. I realized the screenshot was too large the last time i tried.

Is that a screenshot, or taken with a camera? Do they appear with other images, or only with this one.

Actually that's pretty much exactly what you can expect from a public forum ^_^. I for one thought it was pretty darn funny.

Regarding your screenshot I am very baffled. It doesn't seem like an overheating issue.
Try a PRAM + SMC reset and if that doesn't help may I suggest contacting Apple?

If it were dead pixels it wouldn't show up on the screenshot.

Looks like artifacts caused by a faulty or overheating GPU

Talk to Apple :(
