I have been thinking about doing some serious upgrades to my ol' trusty g4 733 DA. Is there any way to add additional fans to help cool it? I am sure that my upgrades will add a lot of heat.
Here is what I am thinking:
1.6ghz processor
1.5gb (max) ram
IDE controller card and 2 hard drives (not sure what size yet, but >150gb each probably)
Replacing my 2 video cards with 1 that supports dual DVI monitors
Removing or replacing boot hard drive with a new 60gb and removing 40gb
Bluetooth, even if it is just via a USB dongle, mainly for keyboard and mouse, and sending small files to my laptop
Already added USB 2.0 card.
I am sure all this will make things a lot warmer. How would I add another fan? Also, with these upgrades, would it be able to run Leopard with Photoshop CS (which it currently runs in Tiger), a video editing suite, and a music/audio editing suite?
I also am considering just getting a g5 power mac sometime down the line instead, but upgrading part by part would help spread the expense out over time as opposed to one big payment. But I saved big coin on the digital audio in the first place, as a friend gave it (and the other g4) to me, and I wouldn't feel right selling it.
