Classic cracked case, will upload photos later. This MacBook is more than one year old (despite only being used for about 4 months of its life). I just got it back, no way! :(

Is it worth taking it into an Apple shop?

I've done some research on this, a few people say they have them fixed a few don't, others say it's now the third or fourth time it's happened to them. So much for Apple making their gear from premium parts. Well I'll take it down to the store and report back, wish me luck.

take care of it outside of warranty??? doubtfull on a cracked casing, no?

I put the word issue in italics as I believe it to be a design flaw and there have been many reported cases of it happening with the general response that apple fixes it.

Good luck.

Yup it happens to everyone, you should just be glad that you made it a whole year before it happened. Yes absolutely take it in to apple and demand that it be replaced for free, it's the least that they can do when they market a product with a glaring flaw.
