I pretty sure ATI Radeon HD3870 wii be GPU BTO option for mac pro
(for all 1,1 2,1 and 3,1 mac pro)

but i have only question

"this thing will happen before or after 10.5.3 out ?"

Well, it can't be a "BTO" option for the 1,1 & 2,1 Mac Pros as Apple don't "B" them anymore...

Does anyone have any good links comparing the X1900 to the 3870? Google isn't turning up anything meaningful.

Check out Tom's Hardware VGA Charts. 3870 totally whips X1900 XT in 3DMark06 at 1900 resolution and scores 1000 points more in overall game fps (not sure about this metric).

Generally speaking, the problem seems to be that the Radeon X1900 is soo old that it were more or less extinct when they announced the Radeon HD 3800 series and only really present in the old Mac Pro.

The Radeon X1900 were dated when the Mac Pro were originally released
