Hi!

I just got my MacBook 1 month ago for my birthday. I love my mac and I have no regrets switching from windows to mac.

However, if I remember correctly, at the final part of the set up, it asked me if I wanted to try Microsoft office for mac for 30 days. I decided to try it at another time.

Now, I'd love to try it but I can't seem to find/download the trial. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I had an office trial pre-installed in a folder in my applications folder.
Did you buy the macbook directly from apple?

i don't know whether you know it or not

there are free alternatives for office like
openoffice and neoffice.

better to try this before buying an office for mac

I agree, but by all means give Office a try. I also tried NeoOffice and was very impressed with it, and the price is right too. It will all depend on what you need your office suite to do.

For my needs iWork is the perfect alternative to Office.

Office '08 is a disappointment; not at all like Office '07 on XP/Vista. To be honest, it's not really worth the upgrade from Office '04. As others have said, try other programs before ponying up the money.

I personally find Office 2008 to be a nicer experience then Office 2007.

iWorks is great, but I am so committed to Office that I stick with it.

office 2008 is buggy in leopard. Like..really really buggy. Spaces doesn't work with it and it just doesn't run well. Just a warning..

I'll say....I use iWork for my stuff but Office coz everybody else uses windows based PC's here in the office...terrible...
I love my mac and I love the OS...just wish Office would run smoother and faster like iWorks when I need to do work for them...

I've still got Office X running pretty smoothly in Leopard on my PPC Mac with less serious problems. Should I upgrade to '08 so I won't miss out on any new features?

I'm assuming there may be issues in opening files made in X in Office '04, '08 and in PC versions of Office such as '07 - so is there a way to get round this?

If people are urging me not to bother upgrading to '08 then I guess I will have to wait for the next version unless this cuts out PPC support for the first time!

Even Office X is fairly old - 7 years this year - it is quite stable which it only crashes once every now and then and it's a pity '04 and '08 seem to be letdowns after reading poor reviews.

thanks ppl!

i've downloaded and tried neooffice and am quite happy with it. thanks for the recommendation!

While I like both iWork and Office for Mac (pages and word) I find that that Office plays nicer with my PC-majority (only PC's, in fact) peers' laptops.

So I use OFM, and publish in the ol' 97 .doc format.

Anyone wondering how long more before we can just publish in .docx without worrying about incompatible recipients? (sorry to hijack)
