Hey fellas!

Im a student in Holland and my friend in Canada just bought me a brand new Macbook Pro 17" Glossy High-Resolution, 2.5Ghz, 250GB, 2GB.. Planning on upgrading the RAM myself.. We love the Dollar.. Saves me a fortune.. About 500euros lol..

So im thinking of what to buy else.. What are real musthaves? These are the things i came along:

- Speck Seethru Red/Green
- Do i still need an extra sleeve or something?
- MS Office
- What mouse should i get?
- Apple BT Keyboard

What would you recommend else?
Also software.. I had this article with very usefull software, but cant find it..

Thank You!

I would recommend a good case
incase makes nice ones
also you should get a mouse, prolly bluetooth
the trackpad is a limiting factor with certain tasks

logitech bluetooth mouse
i would say wired aluminum apple keyboard. (BT has batteries. and they only last about less than 4 months)

incase for the carring case. they are the best.
onyx for cleaning up the MBPs clutter.
Windows if you want...
handbreak...ripping movies..
Coconutbatter or istat for battery heath monitoring..

thats about it.

A Booq laptop sleeve and backpack are a must. I have the Booq Boa 2M System which includes the Boa backpack and Vyper sleeve. They do cost a little more but I can say they are of the highest quality. When it protects my $2500 laptop and other accessories it is a small price to pay.

If you can get 3-4 months from 3 AA batteries on the BT keyboard I consider that acceptable.

Incase hard case and booq bag would be the most protection...we are all waiting for that new case. I would say that having something like the iSkin Pro Skin to protect the keyboard will keep nasty dirt, hair, crumbs and others off your keyboard.

i would definitely not get the speck case. Lots of people are having major problems with them. Incase is coming out with a mbp case and they make the best. wait till then to get one of those. logitech makes the best mouse and apple has the best keyboards. Nice of your friend to get you a mac, wish mine would.

This is a good list

Thanks Neil.. That was the page i was looking for.. :D Thank you for all your replies..
Why is the speck hard case not good? Explain me.. Searching for review and comments, but they are all good..
I cant find any MBP hard cases from Incase (yet)?

Im going to Fashion School.. So i will be carrying it a lot.. But i really enjoy the extra screensize for designwork..
Im also an olympic athlete so i will be carrying it.. I just sold my laptop and desktop so i had to be replaced.. :)..
Im gonna watch tons of movies and will use Ilustrator/Photoshop.. What about invisible shield?

A replacement keyboard for your newly purchased MacBook Pro?

Because it features an American layout keyboard as it is now...

Hi,

What are the issues with the speck case?

It may not be the same for the 17", but for my 15" mbp it has been great and really served its purpose - protecting it from scratches and little dings or dents. I remember how worried I would be about the aluminum casing when I had a 12" powerbook that was pristine. I put it in my bag which was secure and clean, only to find a ding on the casing when I took it out. It made me a little nervous taking the laptop out.

Now with the speck case, I don't worry at all. It won't protect it during falls (when it is just the speck case and mbp), I'm not sure what would. But with the speck case and a good bag, you will have great protection. I actually think it helps with the heat on my lap also. Some have said they have scratches underneath the shell, but I don't have any.

I would recommend the speck, or another hard case any day.

thats how you mbp will look like in the dark with us keys

Looks the same to me..
I dont think that will be a problem..
If you work a lot in the sun/bright light dont you think the red speck will discolor the macbook?
I had that with colorred cd cases.. eventually my cds turned yellow or green etc..

Any idea when the incase hard shells come out?

I think im gonna go for this:

Speck/Incase hard shell..
Incase sleeve..
4GB RAM Crucial
MX/VX Revolution Logitech Mouse
Apple Wireless BT Keyboard..

Im also considering the following.. I have to find a company first whos willing to do this:

Is it necessary when you using Photoshop and Illustrator?
Prob will use Premiere Pro as well, but not often..
Can anyone help me with the laser etching? (some dutchies perhaps) :D

I just bought the following for now:

Apple BT Keyboard.. I love it..
Brenthaven Shoulderbag..
Incase sleeve.. (its not much different then any other brand :S)

Any other recommendations?
