password on a single map?

I'm not sure what you mean by "map", but if it is a file of some sort, you can put it in an encrypted disk image, and protect the disk image with a password. This can be done in Disk Utility - just make sure you make the disk image writable if you think you'll need to modify it in the future.
Wouldn't surprise me if "Map" was used here as the Dutch word for "Folder".
