iPod touch 3G on Touch?

Forgive my ignorance - I'm desparately trying to hold out for a new higher capacity Touch and in the meantime I'm trying to get edumacated about some things. 3G has absolutley nothing to do with the Touch, correct?
 
in most ways, yes. 3G has nothing to do with iPod touch.

3G is basically a cellular internet connection that is faster then the old one.

it doesnt look like the touch will get it anytime soon if it does
