Hi guys

Im a complete noob when it comes to cards so all help welcome. :)

I've got a first gen Mac Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT card.

My question is the new Nvidia 8800GT or the ATI x1900. I'm gonna be using it for FCP/Motion etc and have heard the ATI is much better for this but have also heard that there are big problems with overheating and such.

Any advice?

Also! I want to get an eSata card to hook up my hard drive, any ideas?

Thanks :)

Doesn't the HD 2600 work with the 1st gen Mac Pro? You could even use that; barefeats.com shows that it gets higher pro app scores than the 8800, and that way you wouldn't spend $400 on a four year old card.

I think it does, is the 8800 four years old?!?!!

So you think the HD 2600 over the XT?

Hmmm still confused :confused::D

Ok so its between the GT and the HD 2600. And the HD2600 is better for FCP etc. And is cheaper. Good choice?
