hey just wanted to say thanks, to all the people who asked and answered in this thread! it helped a bunch

is there a way to download a rar file and NOT have one of these programs automatically uncompress it??

hi

is there a program with a friendly user interface like winrar on windows? i need to add different passwords to different files when uncompressing
thanks

the unarchiver is the best solution ....i honestly like it better than winrar

I would like an app like this too. So far, I've been using the unarchiver but I need an app with an interface so I can drag and drop files into existing zip and rar files.

To open password protected RAR files on the Mac, use either
- RAR Expander (works most of the time) or
- Unarchiver (if RAR Expander doesn't not work)
and enter the password.

Is typically not cool to modify RAR files that are made for distribution. If you must add files, expand, recompress and save as different file name.

What's wrong with modifying rar files for redistribution?

I would just like to find a mac program that gives me an interface to control individual files that are inside of a compressed zip or rar file. I don't want to have to extract and repackage the entire thing like I am forced to do now.
