I searched and found an mdutil method of telling Spotlight to index network volumes. I can't locate it now, but noticed that the last posts about it were 1.5 years old.
Does this method or another work with 10.5?
I suspect that there is an obvious way to do this that I have not figured out yet.
any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dave

you may want to take a look at this interesting how-to article that i found here: http://forum.multiplexapp.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=17

i was trying to understand how the finder's search 'shared' feature works when you have not enabled spotlight indexing for the desired network (NAS) drive. it seems that if i click 'shared' as the search option in the locations ( i guess that's what they're called) then it does initiate a search but WITHOUT indexing.

it also seems this thread is quite old but unaddressed but the discussion is relevant to many users.

can anyone explain more about this?
