newbie GarageBand question

I do a segment on my friends podcast. I used to use audacity on my PC but now that I have a mac I would like to learn GarageBand. What I would do on audacity was do my recording and export as mp3. I would then email him the file. Can the same be done on GarageBand?
 
GB is great and I am new msyelf.
You create and edit your file. There is an option on it to export to itunes, etc.
