For some time now strange behaviour just happens on my OS X setup.

With no visible reason suddenly things chnage so that every keypress is also displayed in a large grey box on my screen, i.e. I press space and the word "space" appears.

This is very annoying. I've checked all the obvious system preferences and see nothing (universal access is off). Of course the thing goes away when I reset the power but then it ust seems to come back randomly and stays there.

I have tried Googling for this (have all the latest updates from AAPL) and found nothing with the search words used.

Any clues ? Am I missing the bleedin' obvious here :)
