Hardware or drivers freaking out?

I have XP Pro and lately I've noticed that the keyboard and the trackpad go in and out. Sometimes also, the trackpad will let me move but not let me use the double scroll and it acts like any other laptop does when you put two fingers on the trackpad and move around. However, when this happens, I can keep on tapping the trackpad and it will tell me usb unrecognized and then it'll start acting normal or still unable to double scroll. I just keep tapping until it works usually but it sucks because everything cuts in and out. The reason I don't know if it's a driver problem is because my keyboard cuts in and out in Mac OSX sometimes, although not the trackpad's ability to recognize a scroll but I think this only happens when Mac OSX 10.5 wakes up from a sleep. It didn't happen before either and can not be traced to any recently installed or uninstalled drivers.
