Imovie 06 does this great thing where it auto-splits footage as it is being imported every time it detects that the record button as been pressed on and off. This is a great function and makes for simplicity no end.
I have just started working in FCE and the same feature doesn't appear to exist. It splits the footage up, but I'm not sure according to what criteria - sometimes I can end up with 3 clips, other times 7 or 8. Within those clips there are many subclibs all joined up, running straight into each other (if this makes sense) Is there some way I can adjust the settings to activate auto-splitting based on the record button being pressed?
I am soon moving to FCP - is the auto-split feature offered within this software instead?
Perhaps I can download a plug-in...???
Any advice/possible solutions of any kind greatly accepted.
