Hello everyone;

Unfortunately my Macbook Pro's (15', 2.16 Ghz 3 GB RAM) LCD screen is cracked and definitely beyond repair, has to be replaced.

How much would this cost to me in an authorized apple service? Would it be better if I just buy a new one (unwilling, though. This one is still fast and efficient enough for me).

Thanks in advance.

Well, Apple will certainly overcharge for the replacement part.

I'd think, it'll probably be cheaper to buy a replacement from ebay or pbparts.com and fit them yourself, there are planty of guides online.

As someone who's replaced his own LCD before (on my brand new out of the box Penryn MBP at that), i say to just do it yourself. It's not hard to do, you get the satisfaction of knowing that the replacement was done properly, and you can save some cash on installation to boot!

I followed the guide on ifixit, and "improvised" in some steps when the guide was outdated.
