and they have come into itunes - called Vodcasts and are in my filelist are various type

M4V xxxxxx.m4v
Mpeg-4 movie xxxxxx.mp4
quick time movie xxxxxx.mov

the m4v have copied across to ipod but dont play the video
the .mov and .mp4 do not appear to have copied across

do i need to convert these in itunes somehow to all work and copy across

someone else please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that Ipod Touch can only play QT files that have been encoded via H.264 or Mpeg 4 (DVD standard). So most likely those particular "casts" have been encoded via another process like sorenson or something. I would recommend using Itunes to convert them as it has the proper codes built in for the iPod Touch.

Or if you are feeling adventurous you could always try converting them yourself using a program like Videora or the like. (free program BTW).

Peace.
