It does say "APPLE MACBOOK PRO 15 inch SEE THRU HARD CASE - CLEAR - CORE DUO VERSION SPECK"

And the description and item ID match up to what's on Speck's site. So maybe it's legit. For $12.99 and free shipping, I'm inclined to take my chances. Worst case scenario, it ends up in the recycling bin. :rolleyes:

Also, is there heat issues to worry about, the aluminum now being 'enclosed'?
 
The original Speck case is different than the current design. Apple changed the port layout on the Core 2 Duo machines, so Speck changed their design as well. This appears to be new/old stock, which would expain why it is so cheap. Keep in mind that this will only work with an original Core Duo MBP and not the Core 2 Duo machines.

Yep.

From the description it says "Core Duo".

When the Core 2 Duo came out, they had to modify their case to incorporate the FW800.
 
Wow, this is a great find for people looking for a CD case, what a discount! Even though I have one of these cases, I'm still scared to use it.
