APPS DONT CLOSE/ wont respond

ok so i HATE this

i have a mbp

i have 10.5.2 btw

apps dont close! my itnues doesnt work.. (wont open) (7.6.2)
some apps dont open...
software update just loads w/o showing anything
activity monitor just bounces wont open
most apps wont close after i open..
word closed but it still has the dot underneath it on the dock and it says app not responding...

WTF HAS HAPPENED TO MY ONCE GLORIOUS LAPTOP???
 
I've been having this issue with certain apps at times as well with my new MBP. I've had the problem the most with Colloquy. I'll open the application and it will load into the taskbar but no window will open up on the screen for me to do anything. I've had some issues with Firefox and Safari locking up and not loading a few times too.
