Under Windows you can set Explorer to remember the view settings within a single folder or set all folders to retain the same view scheme. Is there any way to replicate this under Finder on OS X?

Is there a way to set Finder to "remember" to use the same organization view in folders? If I use the 'option+command+right-click --> Keep Arranged By...' it works for that current view but if I return to that folder later it doesn't remember my preference and throws things around randomly again.

I'm getting pretty tired of arranging folder every time I open them.

Thanks in advance!

It works fine for me, as long as you don't click 'Use as Defaults' it should remember it...

would also like a fix for this as I see it randomly as well. I tend to think that it may be a result of some 3rd party utilities interference but I'm not sure.

Command-J

Change all windows to the one that you are going to use the most.
For example I set: sort by name for all.

As noted, Finder can set defaults for folders, individual folders.

However, it's not as robust as Windows Explorer and doesn't consistently maintaining individual settings for each and every folder.
