If I have 4 spaces, do they share the same dock... or can the dock in window 3 be different than screen 1?

I am at work, and so I am on a PC right now :(

I seem to recall I tried a custom dock in screen 4 once, went back to screen one and found that one missing all the stuff I deleted in screen 4... and thus have never bothered any more in Spaces.

I don't think you can change the dock, mine stays the same in all 4 spaces I use too. Unless there is some 3rd party thing, I think you're out of luck on that one.

Thanks- that is how I remembered it, but I wanted to make sure.

Sucks- IMO, it defeats the whole idea of custom spaces, if you cant have a specialized dock for each screen....

I agree, it's kinda pointless having multiple desktops without custom docks. Apple intended spaces to allow the user separate the different uses of the mac (design, work, socialising, gaming, multimedia...)

I can't understand why there is no custom docks. I don't find the Application Assignment to be very useful either, sure Photoshop is in space 2 but I still have a cluttered dock when I'm reading wikipedia and chatting on Adium.

There is a application called iDock but it doesn't solve this particular problem. It allows for multiple preset docks, but you would have to change space then change dock (iDock has no keyboard shortcuts either), which frankly defeats the purpose of wanting custom docks for each space.

iDock is here: http://www.samuco.net/Downloads/iDock.html
