So I have made a backup using Time Machine on my external HDD, it's unplugged and put aside right now.

My Super Drive in my Mini has been broken for sometime now, and I have a LiteOn external USB DVD drive.

When I put in my Leopard disk, I click restart, enter my password, and it reboots to being the installation, but it doesn't. My DVD drive doesn't even spin up, the screen displays a folder with a question mark, and then boots in to my current Leopard installation.

I have tried using the Disk Utility method, Restore, dragging the DVD into Source, but when I try to drag my Internal HDD, it won't let me. I have verified and repaired, still no dice.

SuperDuper! also will not let me restore to my internal drive, it's grayed out as an option.

I have tried using the C command on startup, nothing. I have tried CMD-OPT-SHIFT-DELETE (Bypass startup drive and boot from external), nothing.

I'm out of ideas. Any help?

I tried calling my local Apple shop, they said they could install it for me, for $60. That's not what I'm looking for.
