I'm hoping someone can fill me in on how to become a support technician, or more simply put, a computer repairman.
Right now, I'm wondering how viable a career this would be. I'm looking into general repair for PCs and Macs.
I have a bachelor's degree in a completely unrelated field, but I'm a quick learner with computers. When the IT staff is gone for the night, I'm usually the first person people come to when they have problems. Two times out of five, I can solve it.
I was first turned on to this idea by my cousin, who went to a trade school to repair medical hardware, such as EKG machines, etc.
I'm looking into a class at a local junior college that would get me ready to take the A+ certification test, but is that even relevant?
Anyway, thanks for the help.
