Copying files to SMB share... copies, then disappears?

Anyone else having this problem... I'm using 10.5.2...

There are times here at work when I copy files to an SMB share, which is a NetGear ReadyNAS.

The file(s) will copy over fine in Finder, without an error message, but then disappear seconds later on the Samba share. So it wasted all that time copying them for nothing.

The behavior is inconsistent, and happens with a range of file sizes.

Is there a fix for this, or is this just Samba in Leopard being garbage and Apple not having enough engineers?

It looks like it is an apple bug. It's been reported to apple and complained about in many places around the web. What's worse, based on seed notes for 10.5.3, it looks like there is no fix in sight.

It looks like 3rd party software fixes may be available. Also, if you have control over the server, you can reduce the security settings which will fix the problem (I think its described in the linked thread- there are specific settings that would need to be turned off server side).
