Macbook goes to sleep ad random

Hello to all,

My macbook acts a little weird lately.. When I'm working, sometimes it goes to sleep without any warning, also with a full battery. It never happens when the magsafe is connected.

I noticed that when I wake the macbook again, in the battery icon (top-right), there is a "X" instead of it's capacity%.. Therefore I blame my battery for the random sleep. (the "X" dissapears almost immediately after waking up)

Anyone else having this kind of trouble? Any solution? I already tried calibration and SMC reset..

When I let it go to sleep in a normal way, it says 5 in stead of -60.. Does anyone knows the meaning of the -60? Google doesn't.. :)
 
Yes, still under warranty. The problem is that I need the macbook, and I can't bring it in for further investigation. They doubt wether it is the logic board or the battery itself..

It looks like the random sleep-problem has dissappeared, I didn't do anything special about it.. I hope it doesn't turn up again!
 
I'm getting the same -60 error it looks like
I've been into the Genius bar twice, had the battery replaced and the logic board replaced. They still don't know what is wrong. The Genius said he is contacting Apple engineers and will get back to me. I get the random shutdown at least 5 times a day.
 
Strange problem. What apps are running when you guys get this error? What peripherals are plugged in and are any system hacks installed? If applicable, does it happen under Boot Camp?
 
i have this exact same problem.

i tried uninstalling vmware, which seemed to have something to do with it. wasnt the case..

then i tried running all the cleaner scripts, using oynx and cocktail... no luck

my next try is a total fresh install unless anyone knows whats going on?

Just got my macbook back from the repair centre. Apperently the battery connector was the cause of the problem.
 
I was having the same problem... "Sleep Cause: -60." It would randomly go to sleep with a full battery or half or low as well, but when plugged in it was fine.

I got rid of my VMware files and deleted my partition of Windows with Boot Camp; so far its been working with no problems for about an hour and it hasn't been plugged in since a full battery (about an hour ago.) So I assume it was the Boot Camp partitioning of Windows or the remnant of an old Virtual Machine I use to play with.

Anyone else have anymore ideas?
 
Macbook goes to sleep ad random

We've 2 MacBooks seeing the same problem. One is almost new the other just over a year old. Both started to see the same problem about the same time. No USB devices plugged in, both using airport. My MacBook is running clamXav and Little Snitch the other is an almost vanilla install except for adding Firefox. Was there anything in the last OS X update for power management?
 
Another vote for battery connection.

My MBP has randomly gone to sleep a couple times. It happened again a few moments ago, so I pulled up the console and saw the -60.

Turns out that I had wiggled the battery just slightly out of place by moving one or both of the release things on the bottom of the body while having the computer on my lap.

As a point of reference for the other person who mentioned the possibility of the logic board being the culprit: my logic board was replaced just recently for an unrelated incident.
