I've got a Power Mac running dual 20" cinema displays (sort of). It runs hella slow with both hooked up, and iTunes runs crappy. If I unhook one, it runs fine. I've got dual 1.8 processors and 3 GB of RAM. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

I'd guess that the video card in your power mac is being put under a lot of strain with two 20 inch monitors. Maybe you could try adding a 2nd video card and plugging your 2nd monitor into that instead.

And the monitors are hooked up to a different video card? If so, then whichever one you are unhooking from may be bad.

I noticed on my computer, when I had two displays hooked to two different GPUs it wouldn't run as well as it would when I had both displays hooked up to one card. Might try that, if you can.

Well,
I have three monitors and they all can't run on the same card and it runs very smooth for me.

I have 2x23"ACDs on the 8800 32EFI and a Cintiq 12" on the 7300GT. All this with out a hitch.

I am also testing the same config with the ATI 2600HD, where I have the Cintiq connected and after a fresh install of Leopard it works without a problem. I did have some earlier problems with Leopard after migrating from my MBP to the MP with Tiger and then upgrading.

I hope this helps.

So one is a nvidia card and one is an ATI? Often when you have two different brand names you will have issues as both the drivers load and they don't play nice.

Thanks xraydoc, I ran both off the x800xt and it runs flawlessly. I had to buy an ADC adapter to do so, but it was definitely worth it. Works great!
