i need to change the color of my desktop to solid black
but gray is the closest thing in the system preferences
for desktop solid colors. is there no way to pick a custom
desktop bg color?

thanks,
BabaG

there's got to be something better than that...doesn't there?

Hi,

the solid colors are .png files which get blown up to fit your Desktop.
They are located in Macintosh HD > Library > Desktop Pictures > Solid Colors.

Duplicate any of the existing files, open it in any Image Editor and make it solid black.

The new solid color image will show up in the Solid Color section when picking Desktop images.

thanks for the suggestions. made a 1px jpg and that
seems to do the trick. pretty lame way to have to
do something as simple as picking a bg color, though.

thanks again,

thanks, rupert. your suggestion seems more to the
point, even though the methodology is basically the
same. posted my solution before i saw yours.

thanks again,
