So, if you've been following my saga, you know that I've had a heck of a time getting my Macs to connect reliably to a DrayTek Vigor 2910VG router.

I never found a solution for that, so I was forced to disable WiFi altogether on the DrayTek and set up my old(-ish) D-Link DI-524 as a wireless access point. Now I've got two Macs -- one desktop, one notebook -- up and running on my home wireless network without issues.

Until now. You see, my Canon MP600R WiFi-enabled (802.11g) printer can't connect to the WLAN emanating from the D-Link. Encrypted or unencrypted. Strong or weak channels. Doesn't matter -- it's simply as if it can't "see" the router. In the printer's network settings, I choose the precise network and punch in the password. No dice.

But here's where it gets funny. The MP600R can connect just fine to the DrayTek, even when that router running the exact same settings (same SSID, same channel, same WPA encryption) as the D-Link. So the DrayTek which is useless for my Macs is the only one my MP600R can connect to.

What I've had to do is, in addition to running the D-Link's WLAN, enable the WLAN on the DrayTek and then filter out all MAC addresses except the printer's -- the filtering is to prevent the iMac or the MBP from hopping on.

This is madness. Depending on how you look at it, I'm either running a redundant WLAN just for my printer or running a super-redundant WLAN (remember, the D-Link has taken over for the WiFi already integrated into the DrayTek) for my Macs.

Before I throw hundred of euros of hardware off the balcony to experience the giddy satisfaction of watching them smash on the street below, I just want to know: What the f*** is going on? Has anyone had this problem or anything like it? I know WiFi-enabled printers like the MP600R aren't very common, and the R itself is only available in Europe (and I also think it's been phased out), but someone out there has simply got to have managed this with the same set-up.

Any advice is welcome, though please keep in mind that I've run through the troubleshooting basics. What I'm looking for, I guess, is someone who says, yeah, I had a DI-524 and an MP600R, and they didn't play well together, but Canon has a super secret firmware update that will make things all better. Or something like that.
