My Macbook's startup sound.

Hey is there any way to make the startup a sound a custom noise. For instance......part of a song or something recorded. If I can make something, what is a free program that records sounds on a mac or is there something that will that is already on there.

seriously, i think it is stored in the flash memory that was soldered onboard. i think you can try to unsolder it and replace with the new one)))))))) or just try to reflash it. sadly, i don't know how. and why? don't you like that pretty C chord with high E? I suggest you'd rather work on the computer than just wasting time on dressing it up like a christmass tree. that's what macs are made for. For work, not for customization.

P.S. i guess that also can be not just the sound file in the flash memory, but an instruction to internal synthesizer... If apple still using them in their products...

I use it with Leopard and it works well. Installing places a new component in 'System Preferences' down at the bottom (pictures below). Also, I'm pretty sure the startup sound can be changed though. This guy has done it (scroll down to video and keep volume up):

Have you had any problems with this? I remember about 3 years ago, there was some type of program that controlled the startup chime that was corrupting OS X installations. I'd love to quiet it down a bit.

years ago i recall having several iMacs, G5s and iBooks being turned on simultaneously in the digital imaging lab. some of the notes had a different key... i just assumed the computer lines had different notes.

I suggest you'd rather work on the computer than just wasting time on dressing it up like a christmass tree. that's what macs are made for. For work, not for customization.
