convert outlook pst files to mbox help

Can someone please help. I am trying to convert my pst files to work on a mac os x version 10.5.8. using thunderbird. I used thunderbird on windows vista to import my pst files to thunderbird. Then I saved the mail directory and transfered to my mac. I dont know what to do now. I heard you must rename some file to mbox. Please Help........

If you have Entourage, you can try this: http://www.entourage.mvps.org/cross_platform/win_mac.html#pst, and you can change the format once again in Entourage to mbox. If you do this, it's still not perfect and some formatting gets lost.

So the mail loads correctly in Thunderbird in Vista? Any reason why you don't want to use Thunderbird on the Mac? You can easily import the mailboxes into Thunderbird on the Mac.

Then, if you want to import into Mail: File -> Import Mailbox -> Thunderbird

If you have them in Thunderbird, then you can import into Mail.app via Mail->Import Mailboxes->Thunderbird.
