backlit keyboard not working all the time

hi

I am currently trying to use my backlit keyboard, I am using the powercable so power shouldn't be an issue, but when I try and turn the brightness up/down I see a 'no entry' sign symbol.

anyone else having/had this problem?
 
The backlit keyboard adjusts to the ambient light. Cover your iSight camera, next to which is the light sensor, the keyboard should then light up and you can adjust the brightness. There is no point in having a backlit keyboard if its always on even when you don't need it and won't notice.
