I have been to three Apple stores this last week looking for an Airport Express. None of the stores had them in stock, and the people didn't know when to expect them again. The Apple Store Online has an estimated ship date of 3-5 days. It just makes me think there might be something new coming down the pipe. Anyone notice the same thing?

I hope not

I hope they're not going to be phasing them out/updating them, i'm hopefully going to be getting one this week. I did notice that the shipping date was 7 days for the UK store recently, but when i asked why that was, i got no real answer.

something new will be coming. whenever an apple product gets harder to find, something new comes out to replace it.

Except for the fact that an Airport Express is substantially cheaper. And that it is quite a bit more portable. And that an Airport Extreme doesn't provide AirTunes connectivity. But otherwise, I see your point.

I believe AirTunes support is coming in Apple TV Take 2, but I still think the AE fills a valuable niche.
