I have a 4th gen iPod. I have occasionally been receiving a message stating that the device was improperly disconnected and could not figure out why. Today I noticed that the Apple cable which hooks into the bottom of the iPod can be wiggled by accident, causing one side of the cable to lift up ever so slightly, and thereby causing this message that the iPod was not properly disconnected.

My question: Is this a hardware issue that needs to be serviced (I am still under warranty) or is this normal for iPods?

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

This does not sound like it's normal. If you have any kind of warranty or Apple Care on this take advantage of it and see if Apple can figure out the problem. Once your Apple Care runs out then you might have to pay for repairs.
