I have an offer to buy this:
PowerMac G5 1.6GHz
4GB RAM
GeForce FX5200 64MB
80GB HDD
very cheap but the optical drive is not working. My question is: can I replace it with whatever optical drive for a PC or it is not compatible (probably different cables)?

Not a problem! Just make sure the drive that you are replacing it with is IDE based (not SATA), and it will work fine.
