Bond 23: Skyfall [Warning: Spoilers]
Rumors are circulating about the next James Bond film.
Daniel Craig will star again, and we now know that Javier Bardem will be the villain. Quoted before it was confirmed he said "They’re changing the whole thing, the whole dynamic. I'd be playing Bond's nemesis, yes, but it's not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It's very intriguing.” The film title will apparently be Skyfall, judging by recent domain registrations by Sony Pictures. Judi Dench will be back again as "M" and Sam Mendes will direct the film. Berenice Marlohe is reportedly going to be a Bond girl. We also have speculation about the next actor to play James Bond, with Idris Elba from "The Wire" talking about whether or not to accept the job. Craig had suggested the idea of having a non-white James Bond. Elba told CNN "I would do it, but I don't want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I'm saying? Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond." Sorry, Elba, but if you sign up you won't have a choice about that. Thread cross references:

Despite some people's criticisms of the two newest films, the Craig Bond movies are my favorites, right after Goldeneye (and that might just be nostalgic bias).
Looking forward to this one!

Didn't like the last Bond too much though but the first one with Craig was stunning - even with lot of friends being gutted by missing an english gentleman killer. |

Can't be any worse than Die Another Day. I like Craig as Bond. As for Dalton I prefer The Living Daylights.

Javier Bardem is not Sean Connery, ergo, I will not be watching this movie. The only Bond film that can be made, and begs to be made, involves Daniel Craig and Sean Connery destroying MI6 and getting revenge for the brutal murders and assassinations MI6 committed of all the previous 007s (James Bonds).

Casino Royale was by far my favorite Bond film. I like Javier and I think he will be a pretty good bad guy (loved him in "No country for old men"). Can't wait to see this one!

After watching some classic Bond's, I realize that many famous actors starred in those movies. Christopher Walken(A view to a kill) and Rowan Atkinson(Octopussy) was there

In early 2011 they picked a targeted U.S. release date of November 9, 2012. So guess when it will open? November 9, 2012!

Roger Moore was one of the actors considered for the original Bond role, until Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman decided to go with a lesser known actor named Sean Connery. And the rest is history.

Started a Bond marathon a few weeks ago from the first movie leading to seeing Skyfall. Currently on Goldeneye, hoping to finish them all by the weekend and see Skyfall.
Roger Moore was definitely an awesome Bond, but not so much in his last few films. He didn't age well unfortunately lol. Kind of pains me to see how illogical the "bad" guys are in all of the movies. They keep trying to kill Bond in creative ways that end up failing, no one seems to want to just shoot him point blank

If only those bad guys watched the Bond marathon with you. Then they might realize their mistake. Or at least realize they shouldn't tell Bond all about their evil plan before letting him escape!

Sean Connery passed the torch to Roger Moore, who donned the Walther PPK in his first Bond film, "Live and Let Die" in 1973. Roger Moore became the quintessential James Bond for a new generation.
With 7 movies, Moore currently holds the record for playing James Bond the most times in the official EON series. (He would be tied for 1st place with Sean Connery if Never Say Never Again was counted as official).

Bypassing entirely the simple resolution which would have been a helo with air to surface missiles instead of a large caliber gun, I will simply list my biggest peeve of the film: Bond usually ends up with the nemesis' girl after turning her allegiance. In this one, she either dies early or turns into Moneypenny depending on which one is supposed to be The Bond girl.

In order:
Connery Pierce Craig The local IMAX theater here had showings all day today. Missed the 4:00 I was going to see. I'll probably catch it tomorrow if I can sneak out of work early enough (i.e. before the kids get out of school). |
