Unfortunately, the iPhone 4s's microphone distorts as high levels like concerts where the iPhone 4's didn't. I guess that's what you give up for 1080p video. Anyways, I have been waiting for Mikey's iPhone 4 microphone, but they have seemed to abandon the idea and the only one available is for iPhone 3GS and before.

My main idea is to record live music with this microphone. Is there anything out there?

I've used the Brando Mic:

And it's terrible.

It was actually updated as of today, about a half hour before you started this thread on the same topic, with new mics added by MicW USA.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. But it seems as if those mics are more about recording things such as interviews and lower volumed subjects?

I'm looking for something in a loud, live music atmosphere. Like what the Mikey microphone for the 3GS offered.

I'm with you actually. I'd like a portable solution for the same thing. Even the original Mikey on my old 3GS didn't do the job for me in very loud situations, as it would still distort. Aside from hooking up a mixing board, and using a Shure Beta58, I have yet to find what I'm looking for.

If you do find something, please let me know!

I've been testing a ton of different mics for the iPhone 4/4S (my wife has a 4, and I have a 4S), and I've been keeping this page continuously updated with my latest testing and reviews: http://www.lifeisaprayer.com/iphone-mics

Some of the best options are either a simple mic and adapter (like those from KVConnection), or a device like the Tascam iM2, Fostex AR-4i, or GuitarJack (depending on your specific needs).

I've got a Tascam iM2 here, and will put it through the ringer tomorrow. I just reviewed the Mic W i266 which is a great mic for voice.

Thank you for this, I think it will come in very handy.
