Server & iOS devices

My home network consists of 2 macbooks pros, a mac pro, older XP machine, a g4 (use for older os x stuff and os9) 2 iphones, ipad and a older macbook pro we use as a nas, itunes server and torrent downloader. We run Lion on the macbook that is acting as a server. Everything works great except for the ios devices. I would like to access the "server files" with the ipad. Will Lion server help me do this, or do I need to look at a cloud based solution.
