The New 2013 SimCity [Merged]

Finally... only took them 10 years.

http://www.simcity.com/en_US/game/overview

Looks like it'll only be available for Windows via Origin when it's released. In any case I'm looking forward to it. Available in 2013.

Bout time. Looks like it will be fun. I'm strangely excited to build curved roads.

I'm really excited about a new Sim City.

I still play 4 every once in a while and have purchased CitiesXL 2012, but haven't really gotten into it.

SimCity is more a way of life than a game.

A NEW SIMCITY

AND ITS MADE BY MAXIS?!

I am litterally crying tears of joy. I still play SimCity 4 to this day because it is one of the most fun games. SimCity Socieities was lame (since it wasn't Maxis made) and Cities XL just didn't feel the same. I can not WAIT for this game. There better be a Mac version (knowing Maxis, how could there not be?).

I'm more excited though to see Maxis back in action, with nearly all of their projects (The Sims, SimCity, Spore) get put in other people's hands, it's amazing to finally have Maxis back, and we all know that since this is a Maxis game, it won't disappoint at all.

They've announced it too early. I'm not gonna be able to wait patiently until next year now that I know about it.

You'll be fine, the requirements are already out. They're pretty low.

Jeeze.

They don't even have screenshots of the in-game stuff. Everything on the website is "concept art", and the trailers are all pre-rendered. That's some game release. They might as well have simply come out and said "We're thinking about making another SimCity game, we haven't even started on it but I'm sure we'll have something we can sell in a year".

Frankly, the fact that it says "Maxis" on it means absolutely nothing these days. Will Wright went off to do his own thing a long time ago. After what EA (and "Maxis") did to Spore (go take a look at the Spore 2005 demo videos, then tell me it's the same game they released), what makes any of you think that SimCity will honestly be better then SC2000, SC3000, or SC4?

News flash, most gamers these days are idiots. SimCity is far too complex of a game to survive in the gaming market, so EA will do the only thing they can to make it "accessible to everyone"- dumb it down, then introduce a bunch of stupid aspects (like finite resources) to try and make it complex enough that people don't realize just how shallow it is.

Maxis doesn't exist anymore. It's just a brand name, controlled by EA. The fact that you're all falling head over heals for something with their logo on it is hilarious. Just what EA wants.

The new 2013 Sim City

Sim City at E3

Anyone excited about this? I played one of the early versions until my fingers bled. Then I played a later one and it was "been there, done that". I'm not sure what version this one is designated, nor if I should play it. How about you? I assume there will be a Mac version but don't know for sure.

I think it's coming out in 2013. It looks pretty good compared to the older ones. I'm definitely planning on getting it.

I never played Sim City, but, I'm excited to try it out. Yeah, Spring 2013 is the launch date... around the same time as Tomb Raider!

...and do we know if there will be a Mac version at launch? The Sims franchise has always had Mac/PC at launch. Just wondering. I plan on having Windows 7 on my rMBP (whenever I get it... in 3 weeks' time).

SimCity last few versions have NOT been PC/Mac at launch... Mac ports have come later.

This latest one they have also said is PC only for now and thats all they are focused on... so I guess we can expect a Mac port later down the road.

I was a big fan in the early days (i.e. - floppy disk version ), then my interest kind of waned with the newer versions. I'm excited to see what they come up with now.

The game will most certainly have a solo mode. The "online only" feature, if indeed is has one, is merely a form of copy protection. It requires you to connect to the Internet so they can validate your copy of the game.

Diablo 3 has this, but you could happily play alone through the entire game if you desired.
