I know that I will still have to pay the bill for the rest of the contract, but would I be able to sell the iPhone to someone else for them to use so long as I pay for the bill for the rest of the contract term and they can put the iphone on their plan?

For Verizon you need to call and have them deactivate the phone first so that the ESN will be clean for the new buyer to activate and use the phone.
Ok, the service is already deactivated. If you call the phone, then it just says that this phone number has been deactivated or out of service. Is this what that means?
