Classic Video Game 'Dragon's Lair' Comes to OS X
![]() Notoriously difficult video game classic Dragon's Lair has arrived on OS X nearly thirty years after its original release on LaserDisc. The game features video transferred directly from the high definition film master. Ports of the game have previously been released for both iPhone and iPad. Dragon's Lair was unlike any other video game when it was released back in 1983. Instead of using low-definition sprites, the game used more traditional animation to show game play, with the user executing actions by timing sword swings or other button presses to correctly to clear each level. ![]() Quote:

The headline should read "come to the Mac App Store" because it has been on the Mac several times, in many different iterations.
This game is well known to be one of the most ported and re-released games of all time.

Watching difficult games on youtube is more fun than playing them.

Heh, finally.
... great. Finally to the 30% cut takers, maybe. Yeah, I have two Dragon's Lair, and a Space Ace, and Thayer's Quest machine here. Had 'em since 1985-ish. |

I bought the PC version some years back. I think there was some issue with the specs of my graphics card or something however I couldn't get full screen to happen so it wasn't so nice to play.
![]() What was fascinating about this game back in the day was the animated graphics, something we'd (or I at least) not seen in other games. And the fact that your moves could alter how the graphics played out. I'm probably not explaining this too well, but it was like watching a cartoon where you controlled the scenes. I might give the Mac version a go.

I remember this game! It was fun to watch... but I don't think I want to spend ten bucks to relive it.

I first saw this game on the old show "Thats Incredible!" that was on ABC. (Speaking of which I miss that show) Soon after, one of these games was freshly established at the Roller Ring. I use to pop in my quarters, drool on the joystick, then walk away crying because it was game over. I was too fascinated by the cartoons to react properly to the commands.
I use to spend 5$-10$ every weekend. It is why I have no problem with these game apps only being .99$-9.99$. Even an older game title released like "Sid Meiers RAILROADS!" is worth 29.99$. "Thats Incredible" for those that have no clue http://youtu.be/zFXtb9jBaBM

My first memory of this in the arcade:
Pop in a quarter. "Wow, there's a cartoon playing!" - GAME OVER - |

Yeah, GAME OVER. Shocking the amount of money I spent on it, and I never completed it... Last edited by RobDee; Nov 8, 2012 at 07:30 PM. Reason: removed stray asterisk |
