I know there is not a excel app per se for ipad, but I am needing to use some of my excel files from work while out in the field.. I will need to be able to enter data, run functions/equations, format, specifically....not just view. I have no experience with numbers but understand it is the Apple equivalent of Excel. Is this the best app to use or will there be formatting problems? Suggestions please :)

Numbers is in no way Apple's equivalent to Excel. Apple does not and has never competed with Microsoft in this space. That said, Numbers is the spreadsheet for the iPad. Numbers has competition from other reputable developers. Including Numbers, however, they all have features missing from their desktop versions.
