Tim Cook to Be Profiled on NBC's Rock Center with Brian Williams Next Week

Tim Cook will be the center of a feature on NBC's Rock Center news show next week, the first major interview the CEO has given. Steve Jobs was famously camera shy, preferring to let Apple's products speak for themselves.

In this brief preview, Williams notes that Tim Cook was able to walk around Grand Central Station unrecognized until he got to the Apple Store there.

The full show will air on NBC next Thursday, December 6th.

Haha, that's what I was going to say. Being selective is not the same as being camera shy.

Since when did anyone treat Steve Jobs like a rockstar? I think NBC's commentary is a bit off.

I am excited to see what Mr. Cook has to say. I feel like he really has a pulse on Apple, and his steady-hand execution has been a huge benefit to the company.

Yeah, maybe camera shy isn't the right choice of words. But he rarely spoke, if ever, spoke about his personal life - or about himself- when giving interviews. It was always about the products and values...

I see Tim regularly at the Fraiche Yogurt shop in Palo Alto with his iPad. He never seems to recognize me though

Did you ask him if he had trouble finding the place

Agreed. Would be interesting.

Right.

Let's pretend he can't talk to them for a moment and that he wanted Isaacson to record his life for them. Why publish the thing? Lord knows his family needed the money to live a meager existence after his passing.

I didn't think it was worth mentioning that in the comment, considering it's rather logical that he opened up a lot to someone doing his biography. Very different from other interviews.

Not shy as in feeling afraid or uncomfortable but camera shy as in he didn't see the need to do interviews.

What's really annoying about that, is that we aren't watching the actual show, but rather an ad for the show, and we have to watch ads to see NBC's ad!

There is always someone at Grand Central Station with lights/camera. Generally just screwed up the commute for those of us taking the commuter rail... So nothing really new there.

That will come in handy once Apple implodes, since Cook's poor management will be the reason Apple fails... I give Apple 1-2 years more, then they'll be be just like every other tech company today, without any outstanding products... Screw Apple.. Like they've screwed their customers...
