First Official Press Shot of Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs Released, 'jOBS' to Premiere at Sundance

Along with an announcement that the Ashton Kutcher-led jOBS [sic] will premiere this winter at the Sundance Film Festival, the festival has also released the first official image of Kutcher as Steve Jobs.

From Vanity Fair magazine:
Quote:
Courtesy of the Sundance Film Festival, which, just moments ago, announced that jOBS--weird capitalization choice theirs, not ours--would premiere at this year's festival, the photo shows the Two and a Half Men lead in a cubicle. Outfitted in a button-down shirt, jeans, and a goatee--Kutcher's Jobs, who leans against a desk in front of a poster bearing the IBM slogan THINK--bears an eerie resemblance to a vintage photo of an actual Steve Jobs floating around on the Internet. That vintage photo also features Steve Jobs's Jobs in a button-down shirt, jeans, and a goatee, leaning against a desk in front of a poster bearing the IBM slogan THINK.
It was announced earlier this year that Kutcher would play the iconic CEO in an independent film that is separate from the Sony project that will be based on Walter Isaacson's autobiography. That film is being written by West Wing and Newsroom scribe Aaron Sorkin.

Sundance's description of the film:
Quote:
jOBS / U.S.A. (Director: Joshua Michael Stern, Screenwriter: Matt Whiteley) -- The true story of one of the greatest entrepreneurs in American history, jOBS chronicles the defining 30 years of Steve Jobs' life. jOBS is a candid, inspiring and personal portrait of the one who saw things differently. Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Matthew Modine. CLOSING NIGHT FILM
The 2013 Sundance Film Festival will take place in Park City, Utah from January 17th through the 27th.

If its released on blu-ray, steve jobs will be rolling over in his grave.

He'll also be rolling over in his grave if consumers are given more than one option as well. Dude was a psychotic anti-choice freak.

Ashton Kutcher looks pretty accurate to Steve Jobs.

I don't think he is. I think he is simply enquiring as to who urinated over your breakfast cereal.

wikus, you're a bag of negativity against Apple. Why are you here?

What you're describing is merely an interpretation. You're _choosing_ to interpret Apple's narrow product line as a personal vendetta of Steve's against consumer choice, when in actual fact it was Steve's mandate to simplify Apple's product line. That was the first secret of their successful comeback in late 90's.

Have you ever been shopping for a non-Apple consumer device and found yourself baffled by the selection (and sacrifice) of choosing one product over another? People ask me all the time "what is a good laptop to buy?". Of course I'm going to send them to a MacBook - do you want a consumer model or a professional model? That's the first question to be asked, and it's so simple to answer when you look at the specs. But try applying that same decisive question to competitor computers.

Ashton looks like a great Steve. I'm not a fan of him, so I'm hoping he does justice in a respectful way.

There's nothing to deny as that is a ridiculous claim. Consumer choice is what propelled Apple past all their competitors and helped them become a worldwide-recognized superbrand.

Absolutely.
Jobs gave us a choice between wild-west, virus-infested platforms and one largely free of that cess-pit.
You have the biggest choice imaginable... choose your hobbyware from Google.
Enjoy!

get real. he didnt "hate" choices any more than obama/romney "hate" america. he simply wouldnt stand for inferior choices. in the same way as Henry Ford once said: "Consumers can get it any color they like, as long as that color is black."

it's his product. they build it the way he and they think its best. you then vote w/ your dollars.

whats so hard to grasp?

if you dont like that the user youre responding to was giving *his* opinion on the opinion, then *you* should move on.

for you to instead post that he should move on, rather than following your own advice, is 100% idiotic. durrr

And the director and writer can do their parts well. Can't say I have a lot of faith in those two. But like Jobs, I'm willingly to be convinced

Sheesh, have a little respect wikus. Steve Jobs was an extraordinary man who built the most successful company the world has even seen. You could argue that he not only did this once, but twice! It's an amazing feat, and to label him as "psychotic" is disgraceful on your part, all he did was execute a product strategy for HIS company's products! What have you done?

And you know, many of us around here would label someone who posts endless negative comments in a forum designed for Apple enthusiasts as "psychotic".

Since it's a movie title and therefore a pro-noun, is the 'sic' really necessary? Grammar Police, please enlighten me.

Well, he was just giving his opinion and you had to take time to tell him how he should act. Another option was ...you could just move on and let people use the forum for their opinions.

I dislike Ashton as both a person and as an "actor" and I use the word actor loosely. He's just terrible and seeing him associated with lowest common denominator fair such as Two and a Half Men proves he is terrible.

In that picture, Kutcher looks like Jobs. He also looks a bit like Jack Black, yet Jack Black doesn't look like Steve Jobs. It's like a freaking optical illusion.

Would be so into watching this, but for Kutchers acting is awful.

Pass.

Bagging A.K seems to be a sport around here.

He CAN act. Referencing roles where the character he played was an idiot is nonsensical.

I have never been a huge Kutcher fan but he has managed to play a serious role. That's what I feel this should be and if he can do that the movie will work. He already has the look.
