This is the DEFINITIVE answer. The absolute, no-other-answer-is-correct answer. No-one-ever-needs-to-ask-the-question-again answer.

This answer to the question of case versus no case question is ABSOLUTE!

Any other answer is WRONG.

This is the TRUTH about cases!

The answer is...use a if you want to use a case. Don't use a case if you don't want to use a case.

There...the issue is settle once and for all!!!

 ;)

Don't listen to these people that tell you to go caseless. If you created a post about using a case you already know the answer; yes. The iPhone 5 has the best exterior look and uses premium materials but it's the most fragile when it comes to kicks and scratches. I personally would like a design that holds up to abuse then a pretty phone because I use at minimum a TPU case on any phone I buy. I only keep phones for a year and it's easier to sale them when the phones haven't looked beat up.

The black iPhone will not survive for long without a case before it gets scratch marks

I use a sleeve with screen protectors.
The iphone 5 is more resistant to drops but less resistant to scratches.

I prefer using my iPhone 5 without a case personally but each to their own =)

Depends maybe which type case you prefer? I like the leather flip cases and I have had no problems with those.

Got this one lying around : http://www.gear4.com/product/_/565/tread-gt-iphone-5/?cid=287

Don't know people's experiences with gear4 cases.

I didn't want a case, I like the design of the phone and I want to see it. So I use a Spigen SPG Illuzion leather wallet, it's beautifully made, excellent fit, and offers good protection in my bag. It's easy to remove the phone when I don't want to use it on speaker. Nice colours, too. And has slots for credit cards, and still fits easily in a pocket when I want to travel that light, with phone and credit card.

Looks good but the face will still be exposed right?
I prefer the case type because the whole phone is covered.

I use a bumper on my 4s and my wife uses a Speck Candy Shell with her iPhone 5. I think they are important to protect against accidental drops.

Bumper and just be careful with it. I would not sit or crouch down with the 5 in my pocket case or no case.

Sector 5 looks wicked on my 5.

looks nice sector 5 but wouldn't want to pay more than $100 for a case.

I have got a screen protector on my phone :) I think I will stick with the gear4 and the screen protector and take it from there :)

Sure it's a pretty steep price but instead of having to buy 10 different ones I'm buying 1 for the same price.

I highly recommend this case: http://www.ebay.com/itm/170930005555?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

It is VERY minimalistic, but adds just enough protection against nicks and scrapes. I've purchased quite a few cases for my 5 and this is by far my favorite.

A word of warning. I love that style case as well, and had one on my iPhone 4. Problem is that little specks of dust get stuck between the backing and the phone, so the back of the phone ended up with little star bursts all over it.

Thanks for the advice. I've been taking it out of the case and wiping the entire phone down about once per week since I've started using it. So far so good!
