680MX Benchmarks please

Glad to see everyone is starting to receive their 27" iMacs. I guess I'm shocked that there still is just about zero benchmarks on the 680MX and it's available to the public. (See notebookcheck)

So far the 680MX is the best mobile graphics chip on the market, and exclusive to Apple. Now that the 27" iMac is available to the public, please feel free to share any benchmarks you can (not Geekbench). 3DMark would be great!

No one knows what to expect of this card yet and I think a lot of us are interested to see what it's capable of!

Thanks!

You'll get internet points for running benchmarks for us, redeemable for virtual cookies. Do it.

I'll do one. What do I need to download to do the benchmark, though?

3d mark 11 is a good free benchmark tool.

HOOOOOOOOOLY CRAP ITS POWERFUL

Just got done installing Arkham City in bootcamp and its SOOO much smoother than on my old 27 from last year. I'll tweak the settings a bit but I'm getting 55-62 FPS at native rez in the built-in benchmark. I could have sworn I was averaging around 23-30 on my model from last year. Arkham city always chugged but I wanted to play it so badly so I dealt with sub-par performance on my old 27.

Seriously unless I am mistaken, that is close to a 2x increase in graphics performance from the 1gb 6970 to the 2gb 680mx. Yes, nvidia vs Ati architecture could be a factor, but this is at least 50-75% better. Gonna install 3D mark in steam to get some official numbers between the machines.

Also, the screen is just so much better. The glare has been removed and the colors are much more vibrant. I just can't believe how much I absolutely adore this machine.

FINALLY someone has bootcamp setup and can test this card! Fenn if you can post your 3DMark score here we would all reaaaaally appreciate it. Plus, you will probably be one of the first to run 3DMark on the 680MX (I still can't believe there are no public test results anywhere online, blows my mind).

If you can link the score that works too! I want to see how it compares to the GTX 6XX desktop cards.

Could you try installing steam and testing various free games or demos too so we could compare the FPS to others? Any other games you've tried?

Nvidia's site also has some bench marks of their own, but they aren't as comprehensive as most, usually aimed to specific tests of features. Still anything would be great to know.

In your opinion, any comments on the yellow, light bleed etc... with the screen?

Also ditto the i5 or i7 question. :P

Thanks for all the info you can give.

Temperatures? I am able to max Arkham City on my 2 year old GTX 480 and get similar FPS without it burning up (around 60 Celsius). I really want to know if you could game constant for say 4 hours without overheating on the new iMacs. I'm just so worried about cooling, and I'd like to hear real temps if possible

Bf3, skyrim, fallout and maybe arma 2, but I doubt I'll be able to get all of them done tomorrow

Sounds like with those we'll have a pretty thorough analysis with that topping it off.

Then comes the hard part, deciding to get or not to get. x_x

Wow this thing is awesome. I want one so badly!

I also would like to know how loud and hot the 680MX gets.

I would see your results for Dirt 3, Diablo 3, and Far Cry 3 and run tests on them as well on our multiple Macs.

Can you share your benchmarking procedures?

Using fraps, I'll share what I did to test each one when I've got the results.
Will be using Windows 7 with everything updated to latest version.

Barefeats - are you sure CUDA is enabled with Adobe suite? May have to force that on. Also can you include 2011 high end iMac for comparing? That's what I'm upgrading from purely for video production work.

Thanks to you and everyone for the tests! Mine comes Wed.

Excellent thread, guys! I'm really impressed with these benchmarks.

Do any of you guys think that it is possible to fit this card into the next batch of MBPs/rMBP (15" for both)?

I might be in the market for one sometime next year. While the 650M seems to be quite strong, I think the 680MX would be an absolute beast running inside an rMBP and would be much more capable of driving the 2800x1800 display than the current 650M is doing right now.

Far cry 3 results below

First off I'm using fraps, the iMac is not loud and I'm quite impressed regarding the results through bootcamp

Specs
i7 3.4Ghz
680mx
No fusion

Vsync is off

So at 1440p with everything on ultra, but no AA it averages at 20fps

At 1080p with everything on ultra no 2xAA it averages at 40fps, dipping to 30-35 at times

Tell me if you want me to modify the settings in any way

Is the 1080p full-screen or are you running Window'd?

How do games look at 1080p with the new iMac screen? Does it seem blocky or does it fit ok, not making it obvious it isn't the native resolution?
